Powerhouse Museum

The powerhouse museum is a free to enter science museum. Although categorized as such, their pottery collection and some installation artworks did lean towards the arts and gave the place a nice mix of things to interact, see and enjoy. Good solid 2hrs of entertainment to enjoy the space and displays.

*These pieces seems to reminisce the works of Gaudi in Barcelona.*

Free Wifi is available within the grounds and worth a pop by after Paddy's Market or en-route towards Pyrmont Bay for a ferry ride.

to Circular Quay Ferry Loop service (20mins one way)

Amazing views of major attractions like the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbor bridge, Luna park and more that makes up Sydney's iconic skyline. The loop service takes 20mins from point to point and charges AUD7-6 for the service if exiting the terminal. Highly recommended in either direction and any time of the day.

Note that in the evenings, the Sydney Opera House has projections that light up every single evening from 6pm-11pm. These timing seem to be inconsistent and vary daily.

Bondi Beach

Getting there

A round trip costs about 7AUD and takes about 40min journey each way.
To take the public transport system, one has to purchase a non-refundable Opal card in pre determined values  of 10/20. These cards maybe bought at any 7-11 store. The cards themselves maybe topped up.

Getting to Bondi beach take bus  330/380

Long story short, on a nice weathered day and you’re looking for some surf time or to chill and walk along the beach this is a great place to come to.

The beach is clean with public restrooms and several wash facilities readily available. Further more there are a number of good eateries along the beach which are perfect. 

For great beef ribs one could try Hurricane’s grill and for the best hot chocolate so far, give San Churro’s hot cold order a try, both of which are located along the coast.

The Australian Museum

The oldest Museum in Australia is home to a collection of artifacts, dedicated to natural history. A reasonable range of stuffed animals, insects and birds, which are largely native. Apart from a few standout pieces, most displays lacked dynamism.

The museum does have a good kid friendly and interactive learning section, with both live, physical and preserve artifacts to see, learn and touch. 

There seemed a general lack of flow to the entire Museum, with a sporadic sprinkling of displays, with potential of missing some sections.

Sydney Fish Market

 

Laying claim to being the largest fish market in the southern hemisphere, watch as the market processes an array of fresh sea-foods for the day's sale.

It has a variety of cooked and fresh sea-foods, from lobsters, prawns, fresh oysters and various shashimi cuts. Dine outdoors, whilst enjoying the picturesque view of Blackwattle Bay. A seafood platter, shown in pic, for two went for about AUD52.

ABBATip: - The Sydney Fish Market is at its most lively from the early mornings till about 1330hrs.- Guard your food from the Seagulls. They will go for a quick snatch and grab if given the opportunity.

Darling Harbor

A short 10min walk from Hyatt Sydney hotel brings you to Pyrmont bridge and the Darling Harbor. A wide range of eateries are available as well as attractions like the Australian Maritime Museum and Sydney Aquarium.

Things to Do @ The Sydney Cove

The Sydney Cove is home to the  the world famous Sydney Opera Houses as well as the Sydney Harbor Bridge  which are definitely must sees. At the cove there are also various ferries which you can offer a scenic ride or bring you to other great attractions like the Taronga Zoo. The Rocks which line the cove as well are a great place to wine and dine.

Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House has a recognizably factor of 4Billion, sealing its place as one of the many architectural wonders of the world. A scenic view of ferries going up an down the bay, framed by the picturesque Sydney Harbor Bridge with the sunset in the background. 

Enjoy the Opera House Tour, learn its design history and have a greater appreciation of its use of materials and modern design. Tours last for an hour every half hour and tickets are readily purchased at location.

Museum of contemporary Art Australia

Located along The Rocks, this Free Entry Museum showcases some of the many new Art Works. 

Not an Art Buff? No worries. On the 4th Floor there's a cafe which gives you a panoramic view of the scenic cove. Watch as the Opera House changes colors through the day.

Sydney Harbor Bridge

Its large steel and concrete structure is like a Bridge out of Christopher Nolan's the Dark Knight Rises scene. Another great icon in Sydney.

Paddy's Market is a large enclosed building which sells an array of fresh groceries, Australian souvenirs, home-wares and miscellaneous items. If you look hard enough, you'll be able to find some gems within this place.

QVB: Queen Victoria Building

Located directly opposite of Hyatt Sydney, QVB is an architecturally stunning building, restored from back in the day and retrofitted to house a medley of known brands, eateries and shopping. All of which are built above and beneath ground and interconnected via tunnels. You can stay sheltered from the weather and continue to shop in the grand architecture.

Located at the top floor of QVB, it is chock-full of things for the modern fanboy. 

The lower floor has an extensive assortment of hobby kits, toy weaponry and a model railroad track in the toy train section. The upper floor has the latest Lego kits and radio control cars with a working racing track.
