Lower Seletar Reservoir Park
Khatib MRT (1km from)
A nice short stretch of Park with two outstretched jetties and a water play area. The park stretches out about 1km in length and the original of the two jetties offers with the older of the two sanctioned for some sport fishing.
Dredger clearing the free growth of water plants.
The water play area that's now Open!
Water Play section
Opens daily 9am-9pm

Pros: Scenic. Nice big area to move about. Toilets are relatively nearby.
Cons: The sensor for activation of the water feature doesn't really work.
The 'foot therapy' surfaced sections defiantly aren't toddler friendly as they are quite rough and can tear up toddler's knees. Must be able to walk.
Still a fun spot but there are many alternatives that have equal if not more child friendly water play areas. Here are two notable and more impressive ones, firstly Children's Garden at Garden's By the Bay and secondly
Jurong Lake Garden water play area. Click either for more info!
*Probably the original pier which is sanctioned for some spot fishing*

*Spotted Bass*

Nice short stretch of park. There's a wash area with water refill in between the two piers. Parking is available as well (though small. Recon about 15-20 cars tops). Great for plane spotting for either the cross wind or base leg turns into the nearby Seletar Airport. Water play area if open would be fantastic and the fishing piers with the friendly fishermen were a great welcome.

Botanic Gardens
Botanic Gardens MRT
The Botanic Gardens, a tropical garden in Singapore to be honored as a UNESCO World Heritage site. There are multiple entrances so depending which sections of the park you'd want to explore first, one can find a corresponding entrance.

The park grounds are free entry with the rare few specialized gardens having a nominal entrance fee. The other exception is Jacob Ballas Children's garden which requires that Adults only enter with an accompanying child.

Beautiful selection and with the extension of the Tan Hoon Siang Mist House and Sembcorp Cool House, it was an hugely welcomed in Singapore's heat.

Botanic Gardens Gallop Extension

Fun bouncy trampoline.
A couple of nice play grounds with water drinking points easily found around the garden itself. The main entrance has a changing room as well as dining options.

To walk among the trees and bounce above the foliage below.
Some of the other many picture opportunities at the iconic Botanic Gardens.
A world class park in the tropics with a change in scenery and landscaping depending on which area one ventures to.

Loads of free roaming chickens and watch out for sometimes wandering water monitor lizards. An excellent half day exploration of this
UNESCO World Heritage site for photo taking, animal watching and enjoying the landscaping.

There are air conditioned and alfresco dining venues as well that suit most budgets. E.g Casa Verde/ Bee's Knee's at the Garage. Both serving pretty good food from previous dining experiences but no review entry.

Lola's Cafe
220m form Kovan MRT Station
Quite a pleasant coincidence as this was an alternative quickly googled cafe. The original was planned location was closed on Monday, but was delighted with this Monday's stumble.

Nice, simple interior but immediate parking in front of the cafe maybe limited. There is however plenty of parking a street down and across the open space car park at Kovan MRT station.

Known Signatures recommended by the waitress.
Starters: Honey Crispy Wings.
Brunch menu are their pulled pork avocado egg Benedict, the crab cakes and ultimate croissant.
Dessert: Lychee Rosewater Cake.
Click here for location of Lola's Cafe 5 Simon Rd, Singapore 545893

Ordered On:

Basil Pesto Mushroom Toast SGD14
*Well Prepared and a nice dish. Simple element done well.*
Pulled Pork and Avocado Egg Benedict SGD16
*Superb. The eggs Benedict done very well with a thick and creamy hollandaise sauce. One of the best if not better ones had. Nicely prepared and the smokiness of the pork balances nicely with the eggs and sour dough bread.*
Latte SGD5
*Nice cuppa and has some depth of flavor to it.*
Truffle Fries SGD10
*Nothing really to scream about. Pretty average.*
Lychee Rosewater Cake SGD6.50
*The aromatics from the rosewater was really nice and the lychee shown through. The cake and cream are on the dense side. If they were much lighter it would've been a superstar winner. Pretty visually but lacked the lightness. Somewhat similar to popular watermelon cake from Black Star Pastry Sydney*
Fed 3 about 20-25SGD after Taxes.
No Service charge over here.
Ambience 3.5/5
Food 4/5

*This goes hand in hand with value. Most of the mains had were really enjoyable and decently portioned. Good prep and clear flavors. Would try some of their other signature dishes.*
Service 4/5

*Although there's no service charge, but staff were tentative with water refills and knowledgeable on menu and gave their own personal recommendations.*
Value 4/5
Nice surprise place that wasn't planed. Much like Wild Seed located in the Seletar Aerohub area which was another pleasant find. Great place to hang out and chill. A good cozy space with a cuppa and a meal probably and sides would set you back 20-30SGD. Worth another visit for catching up.

Yujin Izakaya
Yujin Izakaya is a small 50 seater Izakaya joint found along Zion road. Unfortunately the nearest MRT is located 1.3km at Tiong Bahru.

 Ordered On:
04July2020
 Hamachi Shashimi SGD15

*Nice draft beer. SGD12*

Katsu Sando SGD18 One of Their signature
*Pretty nice. Their Katsu sauce has a nice tang to it. The beef is very tender but probably lacking fat distribution. Nice presentation and pleasant.*
Suangimo/Nankotsu SGD18
Chicken cartilage and Chicken Liver

 Gyutan SGD15
*Cow's tongue*

*Pretty standard. Not the best. They could have done more with a wedge of lemon and/or radish for the chicken. A little more spice on the liver would have been welcomed.
The cow tongue had nice fat distribution and paired well with the mustard. A spicier mustard would have highlighted more. A surprising texture with the cow tongue. Personally I was expecting more bounce but it was more akin to long stewed pork.
Sake Toro Yaki SGD18 Special for the night

*Nice fatty salmon done nicely. Good flavor.*
Ebi Somen SGD20
*A Japanese version of Aglio Olio. Nice way to fill up the meal. Simple, delicate and prepared well.*
Total Fed 2 at SGD136.53
Atmosphere 4/5
Service 4.5/5
*Purdy who tended to us was outstanding! She was tentative and proactive. We had previously ordered from another server, two portions of the salmon belly without knowing the portion size. Purdy later came over suggesting ordering one first and see how things goes from there. Further more, when asked why our last noodle dish took a while to come, she shared that usually Yuji will sequence the dishes with the starch being the last.
Purdy was well aware of orders and what's going around in her surrounding, as well as proactive and tending to customers. Excellent!
Best Singapore service experienced thus far.*
Food 3.5/5
Value 3/5
Probably more of a watering hole place with small bites. The vibe is relaxing, service was excellent and music wasn't too loud for a nice over the table catch up.
