A great area where kids of a certain age maybe dropped off so that the parents can have their private time. Good spread of activities and obstacles for the kids to roam free, express their musical and art talent as well as get some movement in. SGD18/child for only residents and guests if not part of the package.

Splash at Shangri-la
Sessions starts from 9am-6pm
A relatively small area with a 1.5m section that's definitely not for non-water safe kids. The great thing is that the place provides lockers, a small changing room as well as life vests for the kids. The place is a nice add-on and somewhat similar to the water park at the Singapore Zoo.

*Really well executed and with *sea hum* (cockles) its a pass. The fried crispies prawn paste side dish just Atas the dish up for me. Surprisingly very filling and hugely satisfactory.
Beef Rendang SGD28

Cooked by Rumah Makan Minang a specialist of Indonesian Minangkabau cuisine.
*Solid rendition. The condiments were spot on and true to the delivery of the dish. Though couldn't beat the pleasant surprise in Melbourne Chin Chin most likely due to the quality of beef products available in Australia.*

Adaptation of Whampoa Keng Fish Head Stemboat
*Really good soup stock and the layers of flavors did not let the original down at all.*

Price point aside, its really amazing to see how to *ATAS (sophisticated or elegant) it up. The last place from memory to be able to do that was at the now defunct, CreatureS, then top 100 new restaurant in Singapore.

The play-cation package to me was a pretty good deal. After taking into consideration the complementary breakfasts at The Line, 'free' entry into both attractions as well as the SGD100 dining credits per night, it works out almost similar to cost of booking the room alone.
Shangri-la is a little dated, but the room size and service were impeccable. By way of pools, it wasn't very interesting but the heated Jacuzzi was a huge welcome.

Overall a great experience and one for the memory books. The only frustration but understandably so due to Covid, were the constant need to book for slots for dining, or activities to be done for the hotel to monitor capacity. Thankfully guest services were very obliging and assisted it to the best of their ability and in most cases, walk ins were not an issue.

Changi Cove is located very close to an entry point of Changi Board Walk and a short drive away from the bustling Changi Village eatery and Changi Beach.

Positives
- Location is pretty good for the Changi-centric activities and being among nature.
- Free Parking
- Wifi fast and decent
- Rooms are decent sized with strong water pressure in the bathrooms. At least for the same price it was bigger than Oasia Hotel Downstown. Click here for 3D2N Staycation Itenary.

Negatives
- No Swimming Pool! The lack of a pool wasn't clear on various travel booking websites/pictures. One needs to take a shuttle bus to partnered Civil Service Club (1hr swim limit) to get your soak on.
- Very basic Breakfast.
- To get to the rooms requires a lift and short walk transfer as rooms are located in a separate building. Vice-versa to go out.

For the asking price, due Covid and holiday period, honestly everything else was booked out. One could probably gotten a better location or hotel elsewhere. Its not an unpleasant stay but could have been so much more. Would look to other options for a Changi centric location.

Singapore - To Stay - 5-7Oct20 (Oasia Hotel Downtown)

Oasia Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Tanjong Pagar Mrt which in itself has a myriad of countless eateries and night life activities to partake in.

The facilities were adequate for our needs. The room was a little cozy but the roof top pool though not as impressive as that of Marina Bay Sands was pleasant.
Pros
- Chinatown, Maxwell Market, loads of high end and affordable local delight eats (Tong Ah Coffee Shop/ Tanjong Pagar Market) in and around the area are accesible within walking distance.

*Tong Ah Eating House Known for their old school coffee shop serving home made kaya crispy toast. The best cuppa of coffe had for the trip that we ordered two!*
- Close Proximity to Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. 1Min walk.
- If you drive its Free parking and you're allowed multiple entries and exits which makes staycation very convienient. 

Cons
- Wifi isn't quick enough to stream youtube seemlessly on the television. Pauses intermittantly but still bearable. 
- Water temperature in the shower is inconsistant and doesn't hold set temperature.
- Long 1min round about drive to get to parking located on the 4th floor. 

Overall a great location to really get to explore things near and around the area. Though the room is a little tight, the local eateries and restaurants around the area make up for it and is sure to meet the array of pallets and wallets. The free parking is a huge help to have the hotel as a base to move from location to location. Staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful in making the stay enjoyable.
