555 Villa Thai
(located waaaaay past Changi Prison)
Recommended by Bob.D
A hidden Thai mookata (akin a combination of Korean barbecue and Chinese hot pot) joint, found past Changi Prison and just of RWY20R/02L at Changi Airport. 555Vila Thai has a very casual and musical atmosphere, which over looks the landing/takeoff runway at Airport. One’s pretty much as close to an active runway as possible.
Apart from its unique location and atmosphere, the owner of the place is a musician himself and enjoys having live band appearances to add to the lively atmosphere. Also their Mookatas are charcoal powered, which gives that only-charcoal-cooked taste at nostalgia.

Ordered On:23June2019
UFO Pot Set Mookata for 4 79SGD

*The difference from the traditional was that the UFO pot-set offered more ingredients. Looked impressive but not worth the quality of meat and range. Strangely they gave Bak-Kwa (BBQ Pork often seen in Chinese new year.* Sadly some of the meat was of questionable quality and taking that into account with the serving, overall maybe slightly over priced. What worked for it was they using charcoal to power the Mookata which gives that nostalgic feel and that unique charcoal fired flavor. For about 20SGD per pax, in other locations one could be enjoying a free flow buffet already.*

Deep Fried Kang Kong W/Fritters SGD13
 *Pretty alright. Nothing Fancy*
Spicy Steam Seabass SGD28

*One of the best serving of this fish I've had. It wasn’t over cooked and the spice level just right to accent but not overpowering. The fish was done just right!*
Seafood Tomyam Kung Fu Soup SGD16

*Great serving with lots of ingredients. Authentic Thai and again the spice level is just right. Thoroughly enjoyable and one of the better Tom Yums had!*
Happy Hour is from 5-8pm with good offers up to 40% off regular retail price. Happy hour pint at 9SGD/pint.
Total fed 6+3kods about SGD30/pax (not inclusive of alcohol)
Ambience 4/5 4.5/5 (must like aeroplanes)
*The owner himself is a musician and they have live band performances as well*
Food 3/5
Service 2.5/5

*Some grumpy waitress. They didn’t really listen to request for spoons or bowls but gave whatever they thought you needed. We had requested for them to dish out the soup into smaller bowls as the table was tight on space. They either conveniently forgot or not to hear to the request. Thou there were a fair number of staff, it seemed only a few could take orders. Hence there were both mix up of orders and staff directing another staff to take orders. A little disorganized it seems.*
Value 3/5
*A little pricy for the remote location*
Thou service for our experience lacked, a better bet would be to go for their al-la-carte dishes, and if still aching for a Mookata, go for their standard ones and have the add-ons would be of better value. The happy hour timings are great (5-8pm) and go later in the evening about 730pm onwards as the live bands start their gigs.
Large groups may require reservations as the many of the tables were already reserved prior.

Feast
at Sheraton D Cube Lvl 41

Breakfast Option
A pretty impressive spread with a great view from the 41st Floor. Their cold cuts and especially their juice and cereal bar was particularly enjoyable.
Food 3.5/5
*Some stand outs were the bone soup broth, raw soy crabs and Bulgogi Beef.*
Service 4/5
Value na
Ambience 4/5

Feast is the equivalent to dining on the top floor at MBS Singapore. Great high rise, panoramic view of the city and decent breakfast selection with a good spread of both local and international offerings. The spread isn't that extensive but sufficient to get a taste of Korea and your usual dining comforts.

Watch for the outdoor queue. At times its ridiculously long, but there will be pockets of

*Looked impressive outside but failed to deliver. They serve spiny lobster. The lobsters were way over cooked. Small and
*The lobster in the cold section were actually much sweeter than the ones served hot.*
*Laksa was really rich. The lobster didn't add much*

*They have three flavors available. Mala, Chili Crab and Salted Egg. The lobsters are all pre-cooked but the sauces are made to order. As seen the chef has trouble keeping up with the demand. The downside is that the flavors don't really penetrate the meat itself, which after a second fry is slightly overcooked. Wait time isn't too long so go check out the rest of the buffet. The Chili lobster with their golden fried mantaos were exquisite!*

Your usual spread. What was surprisingly lacking was some Oysters, Shashimi and a fresh salad bar. That would have rounded the spread as the only form of vegetables were Asparagus and Dou Miaos.

Overall, for lobster fans its pretty worth it. However we felt it was a missed opportunity. There's was a whole lot more they could have done with the lobsters to incorporate the main theme ingredient in Western or other styles. Instead, they kinda went the Asian route. Replaced known Crab/prawn dishes with Lobster. The BBQ section was a little bit of a let down with mostly overcooked lobsters.
