 *Their top8 items*

A hang out izakaya joint. Interesting concept but the canned food doesn't come cheap. Bought 4 cans home to try for a whopping 2500yen.
You may also like another unique whisky joint in London, Milroy's.

*Canned food yet to be reviewed*

Tokisushi Uehommachi
Closed on Mondays

ABBATip: Go ONLY for their limited lunch deal. Their a-la-carte dinner service is disappointing according to others who've been.

Ambience 3.5/5
Food 3.5/5

*The crab tomalley is really good. With the exception of the uni not being as rich but the rest of the seafood are fresh and pretty good. The slices of fish aren't too thick but sufficient.*
Service 3.5/5

Value 3/5
The portions are reportedly smaller now, and prices have gone up since the increase in taxes in Japan. A simple lunch meal for their value sets with decent quality fish. The stand outs for this particular order were the crab tomalley and spot prawn. Cheaper than Hotei Zushi, Fatman Sushi, and better quality than Chojiro, conveyer belt sushi, both located nearby as well.

精肉やまたけ上六店
A great snack place. Recommended to go for their scotch egg. A whole egg, wrapped in pork, beef mixed minced and deep fried to  golden brown crispy exterior. The meat mix is very juicy, tender and sweet, balancing very well with its crispy exterior. Very little English spoken, but enough to get by to get what you want.
*Went for the basic mixed meat croquette.*

Osaka to Kobe Day Trip

A travel time takes about 50-60mins

Day starts off at Kobe-Sannomiya Station
(Take Kintetsu line all the way.)
Total walking distance about 10km.

*Its the same line that goes to Namba. Remember to check the times to make sure your train goes to Kobe-Sannomiya*

Kitanocho District

*Kitano-cho (北野町, Kitanochō) is a city district at the foot of the Rokko mountain range where many foreign merchants and diplomats settled after the Port of Kobe was opened to foreign trade in the second half of the 19th century.* - https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3550.html

The Kitanocho district offers a nice walk about the colonial homes. You get a good mix of different countries architecture. The downside are that all of these Colonial/Heritage buildings have an entry charge to get in.

The only free place to visit is the Starbucks which sits at the corner of this heritage area. Worth a drop in. There are a couple of quaint shops tucked in various corners of this district.

150g Kobe Beef Steak Lunch Set

Food 3/5*
The garlic chips were amazing. We did feel it seems more than 150g which is a plus, but there were some cuts, which were tougher than others. Honestly the raw Kobe beef cut didn't look as good as it tasted (which was also average. No wow)*
Ambience 2.5-3/5
*It may look nice in their print ads, but the place is smoky and the floors are really oily.
A real shame. The wait staff are dressed elegantly, but that smoke and greasy, slippery floor was a real downer.*
Value 3/5
*Its not the cheapest lunch set available, but that again, not having much comparison for genuine Kobe meals, its hard to really say if it was a steal. There are many other places which offer Lunch sets for Kobe beef, but will never know what cut they serve. Highly decorated and recognized place.*
Service 3.5/5

Fed 2

This place was recommended on both japan websites (for value Kobe steak eats) and from Kobe resident tour guide (her personal must go) we met whilst walking the Kitano district. In Short, a disappointment.

Some parts of the meat were a little tough but the juicier centers were very delectable and tender. Personal preference is for more fat, but with the asking price and cook, it was just nice and relatively enjoyable for the set meal. One can probably find way better places but at a very much different price tag attached to it.

Not a Wow. Won’t recommend cause of the oily, smoky environment.

Motomachi
(Long sheltered shopping street)
Pretty much your standard sheltered shopping street in Japan.
Motomachi Shopping Street

Nankinmachi (Kobe Chinatown)
Nankinmachi is a popular tourist attraction and shopping and dining district. Two main streets run through the district, meeting each other at a small plaza in the center. They are packed with shops, restaurants and food stands that sell popular items such as steamed buns (manju), ramen, tapioca drinks and various other Chinese dishes, many of which have been Japanized to a certain degree. *Japan-guide.com*
Nankinmachi China Town
Your usual Chinatown flavor. Quite interesting but the street food gets repetitive after awhile.

Port of Kobe Earthquake Memorial Park

Small display but very impactful. This was evidently so with Kobe preserving part of the port, semi submerged in water. Some pictorial depictions and recovery points after the quake of 17Jan1995.

Kawasaki Good Times World/Maritime Museum
Opens 10am-5pm 600yen per adult entry
Located beside the Earthquake Memorial Park.

*Motion simulater with aerobridge. Wahhhhh!*
We enjoyed the Kawasaki experience. It had potential for more displays. However  the cheap thrills and fun had with their interactive games was enjoyable. Nothing really to scream over the Maritime museum section of things. Was mainly there to check out Kawasaki stuff.

Break for Early Dinner

Kobe Beef Ramen Yazawa
Recommended by Youtuber Paolo From Tokyo 2:57
 Ordered On:
18Oct2019
1300Yen x2
Ambience 3/5
Food 2.5-3/5

*All the soup stocks at Yazawa are supposedly cooked with Kobe beef bone. However compared to Korean beef marrow soups, there was little to no depth or flavor to the soup stocks at all. You don't get that beefy taste, or any hint of rich flavorful marrow. Nothing special. It may look heavy, but the soup is relatively light. The noodles are nice and springy thou but overall disappointing. As for the Kobe beef, though pleasant, a little on the salty side.*
Service 3/5
Value 3/5

The ramen place was unique in offering a tasting of Kobe beef cuts and cooked from Kobe bone stock! Missed potential when it fell short.
Totally don’t understand the ratings from other sources and said reviewer. You be the judge.
