Hogs Breath
(Located at North Bridge)

A relatively laid back establishment located in the heart of north bridge. Fairly standard dining menu as seen in various other chains in Hogs Breath all over the world. A little trivia whilst speaking with the staff. Hogs breath's owner was a sailor and it is a nautical term, meaning foul wind. Not only that, even though the hog is it's mascot, where either an actual stuffed head or butt is seen in every establishment, there is little to no pork served on the menu.

Garlic Mushroom Prime Rib (Traditional Cut) AUD33.95
+ AUD1.95 Garlic Cream Sauce

Felt under seasoned by way of salt. Even though medium rare was ordered, it did lack that gentle pink which should color the entire piece of meat. Salad didn't seem a fresh with much of its leaves bruised and baked potato soft and somewhat soggy. A disappointment in general with outlets in Singapore perhaps, setting a higher bar. The mega cut could have had more success in terms of achieving the optimum flavor profile of medium rare but at an additnal AUD7, one may need to think twice.
Jamie's Italian
(Yet to be reviewed)
For those wondering where Celebrity chef Jamie's Restaurant maybe, look no further. Located at William Street, the place was already forming a queue by 4.45pm. I have yet to review this location, but those who have tried have been quoted as saying "over priced" and "not worth". You be the judge.
Jamie Oliver is best known for quick, easy and simple home cooked meals and his efforts in supporting healthy eating in the UK and promoting that idea across to the USA as well.

Grill'd
Healthy Burger

Pro Australian poultry, with their signature blend of herbs for their must have fries. Another of their many boutique burger joints.

*Chips still rein supreme. At about 14AUD these chips were enough the share among 5. Some new orders like the Waygu Burger at 16+AUD were pretty okay. I wouldn't call it a scream out loud must eat again. Good burger but their signature fries are a must. Still good a year on.*

*NEW*
Chips Share Plate
Famous Grill'd Chips. Sweet Potato . Zucchini
Herbed Mayo/Sweet Chilli Mayo/Tomato Relish/Hot Chili Mayo (When they say Hot Chili Mayo, it really is hot, so take care.)
Fed3 Total AUD14. Comes with 3 sauces.
The Zucchini is the newest chips to be had, and it's an absolute delight. Something new and different. A good crunch exterior from the thin batter, with a fresh interior. Worth the order and now a fav for new comers. The fries as always, to me the best fries to be had. The sweet potato chips are nice, but some felt a little over fried and dry. Still a must come visit with standards still holding.

Burgers are pretty much to Aussie standards but still their fries are the order that just tips the scales slightly in their favor once more! Still good!

03Jan2014:
Crispy Bacon & Cheese / AUD13.50
Grilled grass fed lean beef, crispy trim bacon, tasty cheese,
salad, relish and herbed mayo.

*Well... With the bacon, cheese and mayo, I really don't get where the healthy part comes in.  But it was a good burger. Sweet tomato relish at the bottom, romaine lettuce, cold cut tomatoes, onions, juicy beef patty and cheese with a bacon topper, along with a herbed mayo on a lightly toasted bread. Perhaps served on a ridged plate to ensure non soggy bottoms.*
Hot Chips Regular/AUD4.80 Chips Dips AUD 0.70 Herbed Mayo

The hot chips were really good. Freshly fried/re-fried, and evenly tossed in cracked sea salt and their herb blend mix. Fantastic aromas from the herbs wafting from the small basket of fries and definately an order to share!

In fact they were so good and reminance of a fries place I had years back in Brisbane that I searched my photo albums, only to realize that its the same chain. And that was way back in 2008. A must order and to try for sure!
Fed 1 Total 22AUD

Woo Jeong Korean & Japanese Cuisine
(800m walk from Pan Pacific Hotel)

Woo Jeong Korean has a very small seating capacity (Like 30ppl tops?) and its located at the fringe of city shopping.

Seafood Tofu Soup AUD16

 *Complimentary sides*

Simple meal. Still pretty good and value especially with the great sides that comes with the meal. Would visit here over Took Be Gi (Underwhelming expereince).
Ordered On:

28thSep2015

Korean appetizers:

Some of the Korean appetizers are quite strange (broccoli with chili sauce?), but from the Kim Chi eaters, the Kim Chi one here is definitely to standard.

Doeji-Gookbab - Soup Cooked with sliced pork belly and tripe. AUD16

*The soup is a little light, and in fact could use more salt. Perhaps being more familiar to Singapore's intestine soup, heavy with Pepper and preserved vegetables, this feels like a watered down version. The soup does however have a large serving of ingredients, and is very filling for a single meal. Okay order.*

Jjampong - Spicy Udon noodle soup with seafood and vegetables AUD17

*The dish came recommended by the wait staff. Good spice level, but personally to me, it taste like instant noodles packed seasoning.*

Special Dosirak Box - Eel, jaeyook, bulgoki, Katsu AUD29

*A little over priced. The 20+++ Range would have been more reasonable. Eel was ok, probably defrosted from a pack. Beef and pork bulgoki was fairly standard. Katsu was dry and likely an old retry. Nothing to scream about, but definitely very filling with lots of meat.*

Bong Bong AUD2.50x3

*A local Koean drink. Caned Grape fruit juice. Not what we had expected. We were looking for the sweetish drink often served along side for Korean BBQs. A *

Fed3 Total 68AUD

This Korean joint is approximately a 15min walk from Pan Pacific Hotel, offering pretty decent Korean food. The patronage by Koreans, as well as it being a Korean run joint is probably the mark of authenticity. The Japanese offerings, in my case were a little disappointing and can be missed.

getting connected with a data plan

(ours was the small Hyundai on the left)

We rented from Hertz at the airport. Charges were at AUD354.25 (AUD50.60/day) for a week with full insurance coverage.

For Internet connection, a Pocket Wifi with 3Gig data at 3G speeds valid for 28Days was purchased from Vodaphone at AUD39.

The Wifi dongle is chargeable with mini USB cable and a single charge is good for 5hrs. There are other options provided by other providers.

P.S Depending on your network provider, and where you maybe traveling to, you may not get network coverage hence no data. In our Itinerary, there was spotty wi-fi at Mt field National Park and no coverage midway to Port Arthur. (only Telstra in the area). Click here for 7 day Itinerary in Hobart.
