Old Faithful

The old faithful can be found just off of the main walking streets, offering American food fair of beautifully, slow-smoked meats. I came to find this place after searching through Perth Food blogger recommendations.

Old Faithful is known for their smoked meats and pretty much we went for most of the waitress's personal recommendations.
ABBA Details:
Free Wifi is avaialble and you pay at the bar.

Ordered On:
31stMay2016
Beef Cheek 200g at AUD12per/100g
*Pretty good actually. Tender with some nice fat distribution. The meat falls apart nicely and isnt too dry.*
Waygu Brisket 150g at AUD24.70/100g
*Absolutely delicious. Definitely comes at a price but it's really good. Marbling smoked to perfection with a nice char from the dry rub exterior.*
Pig Ribs Full Rack AUD23.10
*Here the ribs are smoked and are commented to be more pork chop textured. They are a little bit tougher than usual (steam and then BBQed) ribs, but just as delicious. Same same yet different. The ribs do need a little assistance from the amazing table side, smokey BBQ sauce which pairs up fantastically.*
Fried Jalapeños, Sour Cream, AUD9
*The star side order which all agreed on. It's got a nice crusty fry, offering a nice warm heat from the Jalapeños. A unique side and definitely to share among more people. The Jalapeños i felt could be fried longer as they were still pretty crunchy on the inside.*
Sweet Potato, Smoked Fetta AUD9.50
*it sounded good on paper, but surprisingly it turned out to be a cold dish. A fresh fry of sweet Potato and cheese would have been better. Can pass.*
Fried Potatoes, Blue Cheese Sauce AUD9.50
*Da-bomb. They tasted like KFC wedges, only way better and freshly fried. The blue cheese isn't strong and it wasn't until typing this review that I realized the sauce was in fact blue cheese!*
Mains ordered at a Total of AUD137
Dessert Spread AUD24 (All three desserts)
Old Faithful Mudcake, Honeycomb
*Super sweet and dense. It is more of a chocolate Ganesh than a Mudcake.*
Old Faithful S'More
*By far the most interesting of the three desserts. Classic s'mores but upsized and up-classed. The huge marshmallow could have been melted much more, but it's a fun dessert to try to replicate.*
Banana Stout Cream Pie
*Surprisingly it was a little sour and suspected to be from the stout. A miss on the dessert*
x3 Beer
Fed3 at 53AUD/pax

In all honesty, we were feeling greedy and went over board with the dessert, especially having had such a hearty smoked meal.

The meats were generally really good and am not sure, but I think a medley of meats can be ordered at individual portions of your choosing as they charge by weight. Worth a visit for classically smoked meats, done American style, and best enjoyed in a group! Individuals orders are also doable.

The desserts aren't that mind-blowingly great, but the smores and possibly the Mudcakes as to-share item would be just nice to top off the meal. Price range would be about $20-25 without a dessert and beer.

New Moon
(Dim Sum at North Bridge)

Located in North Bridge, New Moon is one of the few places open early in the morning at 9.30am, for a Dim Sum Breakfast/Brunch.

Ordered On:
01June2016

*As pictured. Fairly standard Dim Sum fare. Nothing really outstanding and standards were pretty ok. The only standouts were really the fried cuttle fish, the pork ribs and the bbqed pork pastry.*
Fed2 AUD23/pax.

Pretty alright dim sum with the few stand out dishes that were mentioned. The thing really going for this place is that they open early at 9.30am. Great for breakfast/brunch people!

  1. This is a fun place with a two-faced appeal. The top floor is for all that sass and oomph. LA event venues were super packed, but we just wanted to check it out. Loved the solid selection of quality craft beers.
