Beigel Bake
Brick Lane Bakery Open24hrs 7days
Ordered On:
04March2015
Hot Salt Beef Beigel £3.70
Beigels were sweet and pleasant, but however were served cold.
Their Hot Salt Beef sandwich was their signature but it lacked in moisture. We actually
struggled to finish it amongst the four of us. It's a famous joint as seen online, but
perhaps more for its cheap eats and 24hrs opening hours, probably a hit with ravelers.
Cereal Killer
(down the road from Beigel Bake
not yet reviewed)
Ordered On:
04March2015
Sweet potato salad, dates, walnut salsa, preserve lime dressing £7
The best dishs of the night. Broiled sweet potatoes paired perfectly with the freshness from the lime dressing. Walnuts, dates provide textural and sweet accents. Char Grilled Lamb
Belly, aubergine, goat's cheese, pine nuts, green tahini, harissa £9
Food was served luke warm at best. The flavors didn't really make sense and the heavy cream based sauce and salad topping over powered everything else.
Pan Fried Duck Breast, courgette kimchee,
cashew beer butter, pickled mushroom £10
It seemed that it's sauce and micro salad, heavy cream toppings were a cut and paste from the Char Grilled Lamb Belly. Apart from the kimchee element, the rest of the as advertised elements lacked luster and completely unidentifiable.
Rib-Eye Steak(300g),wasabi pepper sauce
added surf Scottish scallops, king prawns
£20+£8.
An abomination to call it a steak, especially with its asking price. Meat a medium rare, only in color. Meat was tough even though it was a rib eye cut. Wasabi element non existent and came with only a small scallop.
Although ranked and getting seemingly good to even raving reviews on line, with the
acceptation of the sweet potato dish, to some of us it seemed a bit of a let down.
Let's put it like this. After having had the mains, the dishes read better on paper than it
tasted. We skipped having their, on paper delicious reading desserts altogether. Furthermore with fatigue setting in and self-filtering at its lowest, we were almost tempted to tell them our through thoughts of their food.
It could be because of our familiarity with Asian flavors that their fusion attempts were a complete miss. For your consideration to try.
The Attendant
*Current Crew serving at The Attendant as of Feb2016*Ordered On:
07Feb2016
3 Cheese & Ham Brioche £4.50
*Simple indulgence. Wonderfully prepared! Toasting on the outside with some butter gives that richness that it needs. Bread is nice and light. Good stuff!*
Smashed avocado £6.00 *Updated recipe*
*As good as ever. Rich, creamy, with the goat cheese adding some sharpness, and the squeeze of lime bringing the zest. We didn't care too much for the beet root humus but
personal presence goes to towards the older recipe with rocket, pictured below. It gives a light spice from the rocket.*
Carrot Cake £3
*Nicely done and not overly sweet.*
Banana Bread £3
*I may have over marketed this dish to friends. I remembered it to be much more
banana flavored the last time around. Still a good order, and having it toasted on both
side is the way to go to elevate this dish. I'll still order it again the next time round but looking down to how it was a year ago, it definately looked better last time.*
3 Bean Chilli, maple cured bacon, poached egg, spicy ginger yogurt,
sourdough - Weekend Only! £8
*If you're a fan of beans, this non-spicy chili would be a hit. In all honesty, nothing really
mind blowing, but it's a pretty decent dish. The quality poached egg has a beautiful
deep orange, runny center and its deep flavor was fantastic. The chili itself was okay. Didnt really pick up the ginger yogurt though. Available only on the weekends but I'd personally try their other orders!*
Total £24.50 Fed3
Still just as good as before and glad others could try this place. Will return for another breakfast for sure!
Ordered On:
05March2015
Smashed Avocado: Avocado Rocket, Feta,
Red Chilli and lime on sourdough toast £5
Phenomenal. Healthy, creamy, fresh and the lime with crispy sourdough as the base gave that bright zest to cut through the heaviness from the avocados. Truly delicious!
Sea Salt Caramel: Brownie, layer of salted caramel amazingness, core brownie £3.30
Solid, heavy, brownie that everyone was clambering for more, wishing they could order one more. The sea salt accents the decadent richness of the chocolate.
Banana Toast
Already on it s own it, it looks great, but staff go through the extra touches to 'impress'. Banana bread is lightly toasted in the panini press before butter is smothered generously over the top. Not too sweet and just the right balance of bread and banana.
Strawberry Parfait
The strawberry jam wasn't too sweet and the simple yogurt and granola mixture were
refreshing. Not tart at all and a perfect ratio of ingredients to yogurt. Totally wiped clean.
2 Cappuccino 1Mocha Not a trained barista, but the Coffees were to a good standard.
Total £24 Fed 3
A short walk from Piccadilly circus and makes this place a great starting point to the day
ahead.
(Sadly they paint over the wall once every 4-6weeks as the wall gets filled up really fast)

Beat the Clock Limited Menu 5pm-6.30pm
Dessert Menu
Ordered on:
5thMarch2015
From their beat the clock menu 5pm-6.30pm (Pay based on the time you order.
5.05order, pay £5.05) For mussels it's about 30% off the full price menu if you eat at 5pm
Mussels 1/2kg traditionalle and provencale & frites
Pretty standard I must say. They come in tomatoes and cream based sauces. Muscles
are tiny juicy morsels, unlike their new Zealand green lip counterparts. it could have
been served warmer, but at least mussels were not over done.
Half Spit Roast Chicken glazed with garlic £5
This was totally not expected from the title description. More of a boiled, dry chicken
breast in a cream soup mixture with russet potatoes. The garlic flavors were close to
non-existent. Nothing special and it seemed to be more of a health dish.
Mushroom Bouche £10.95
The highlight dish for the night! Light puff pastry, heavy cream and rich mushroom greatness. Really good flavor and an absolute delight. We were dipping the mussels and fries into the sauce, lapping up everything.
Three choices of ice-cream at £5.50
(Ice cream comes from Hampshire Barn
whom donate 10% of their profits to charity every year.)
Strawberry Tease
Ginger Spice: A must order! A light ginger flavor, mixed in with some candied ginger.
Really creamy with a refreshing taste to it.
Salted Caramel
Blood Orange Crush: Nice refreshing flavors to cut through the heavy meal. However,
still the ability to pull out some of the best ice cream flavors is from Giotti located in Rome.
Total £35.38 Fed 3

Caravan - Kings Cross
A breakfast/brunch place serving up good coffee and decent foods and located near to
King Cross Station, where Harry potter 9 3/4 platform tourist attraction is.
Ordered On:
04March2015
Chapel and Swan Smoked Scottish salmon, avocado, chilli ponzu, nori £7.50
Looks like carpaccio of raw salmon. Lightly smoked and not overly salty. Didn't really get the chili ponzu flavors though. It really is more of a fusion/deconstructed Japanese maki. Same same yet slightly different. Different ok.
Veal ragu, rigatoni, porcini, lemon salt, basil £9
Looks good, but surprisingly under seasoned. It's trouble when patrons have to resort to the dreaded salt and pepper grinders to bring out the flavors. Even the fried basil didn't bring much to the dish.
Grilled octopus, chorizo, Piquillo, mojo picks £9
A light warm spice from the Chorizo gives that little kick. This seems to be a common pairing with octopus. A nice dish but the meat is a little tough. Thus far the bet octopus I've had still goes to Restaurant Duck and Waffle, review click here. (my personal must eat places).
The cooking technique for octopus often involves a combination of right massage techniques
of the protein and precise cooking times to get it perfectly tender.
Tempura inari tofu, mushrooms, miso aubergine, teriyaki, pickles £6
Agedashi Tofu flavor profiles, but the mixed stuffing of soy and mushrooms were really nice in this vegan dish. Delicious bites. Top notch, and the closest thing we had to having vegetables that day.
Grilled aubergine, sweet onion, caerphilly cheese, rosemary, rocket pizza £11
(Pizza was on the house. Their fresh rockets vegetables toppings were way too fresh
that it had a caterpillar crawling in its midst.
One cannot deny their excellent service recovery.)
Another interesting vegan dish. What really brought the pow to this somewhat sweet and savory dish was the onion spreading. Their pizza crust is really good. One of the
better ones I've had. Flaky, crispy, good volume and airy.
Total Paid£35.44 Fed4.
The place has a cool warehouse vibe going on with its own coffee roasting behemoth at the back. We had arrived at about 1300hrs and without a reservation were advices the wait to be for about 45mins. Luckily for us, there was a no show and a table opened up in about 15mins.

Some of the food were a hit, but generally okay. One cannot deny the cool trendiness of the entire place or the freshness in the salads. Am no barista, but having their own roaster at the back should speak for itself for quality coffee. For your culinary exploration after visiting King's Cross Stations Platform 9/3/4.

an actual gents in there.

A great way to start the day in a one of a kind location. Food did not disappoint in this
cozy location and yes, there is a toilet in the toilet cafe. Best to go in a small group so
you can try more of their dishes. Will definitely come back for a breakfast/brunch in
future. Plus they have a grafitti wall that you can sign off on :D

Service staff were quite flexible on the beat the clock ordering time, allowing orders to go through about 5mins before 5pm at our time of order. Further more, from our previous nights trauma of ginger Flavored cocktails from 100Gilroy reviewed above, staff gave, not just a sampling but an entire scoop of Ginger Ice-cream for the three of us!
We really should have re-ordered the ginger flavor again but were tempted to try their slated caramel, which staff on hand also recommended. Really good quality, creamy ice cream and a great way to end the dinner prior our Jersey Boys Show (Click here for Jersey Boys Review)
