Au Petit Salut

*A look at the exterior and a view of the beautiful outdoor seating in the day and at night*
*The evening menu which we went for*

Situated on the out skirts of Dempsey, this serene and picturesque place plays host to
a French Restaurant, offering some fine cuisine.
The serving of fresh warm bread roll choices did set up for good things to come. When
we asked for salt, it didn't come in a simple grinder but sea salt chips were served, rather classily in a dish. Ooooooo la la.

Ordered On:
24Feb2016
Set meal at SGD88++
Ordered as pictured
In all honesty, the selections were pretty much of good standing with
common classic pairings.

Crab and avocado mousse, steamed spring vegetables, mayonnaise and salmon roe

Pan seared duck foie gras, strawberries and grapes, blackcurrant sauce

*Foie Gras (though seared with a nice crust, was under seasoned) paired with berry compote and strawberries which is a nice counter balance to the rich Foie Gras.*

Seared fillet of Black Cod, sauteed artichoke, sweet corn, cherry tomato confit, Beurre Meuniere

*The cod was beautifully prepared, but the combination of the artichoke along with the not-so-sweet corn didn't really add to the overall dish. *
Assortment of French farm cheeses, homemade walnut bread and fruits

*The finisher of a cheese platter. All of which were strong flavored, bold and a finisher to
the entire meal. The set meal comes with a choice of tea or coffee.*

A-La-Carte Add-Ons
Duo of Braised Kurobuta Pork Cheeks and Canadian Pork Belly confit, red cabbage fondue, apple pureee, crispy potato, sage jus SGD48

*The taste of how this Korubuto pork was prepared, did not taste very different from regular pork. Its probably another reason to charge more for it. It was however classically paired with apple purée. Pork done two ways with a slice of crispy pork belly well prepared and seasoned.*
Warm Melted Valrhona 70% chocolate fondant,
mixed berry compote and pistachio SGD16

*The chocolate cake really was the highlight of the meal. A beautiful crusty exterior with a
semi molten center. Beautifully presented with edible flowers and a sprinkling of icing
sugar. A masterfully prepared dish and a must order.*

Total SGD174 Fed 2
The food was nice but not really the wow factor. With the exception of the dessert dish which was beautifully presented and with taste to match, the rest were good on its own standing. Some dishes as mentioned could use the seasoning. The service was decent and attentive. Dishes were cleared promptly and warm bread rolls served on heated plates. Perhaps the only criticism of the service was the constant asking if water needed to be topped up, rather than have it topped up without clearance. This could be a personal preference.

Overall, for its quaint, rustic and serene location, along with pretty good food and the overall dining experience 'among-st nature', its a pretty pleasant place, for a quiet meal.
