Portobello Market

06Feb2016
Fri Sat and Sun are the main days with Saturday having most of the shops open at the market in full swing.

The market stretches approximately two miles long from Nothing Hill Gate station and primarily focuses on Antiques. A whole street of antique stalls and pop up shops selling vintage stuff ranging from LV Luggage cases, to hand cut typography letters (which I bought). Prices range from the few dollars to £30,000 for the huge LV case we saw. Vintage gold!
 Vintage Samsonite Bag
 Portable board games set.
Quite the experience, with a few crepe stalls along the way. Most of the fresh foods and street eats are located at the other end of the Market which is quite a ways to go.

Antiques and oddities are the primary focus here with Saturday being the main day to visit!

Hunterian Museum
(Part of the Royal College of Surgeons)
06Feb2016
Free Entry
Closed on Sunday and Monday. Check for latest opening times.
10am-5pm

Another, out of the norm, museum visitation in London. The Museum is part of the Royal
College of Surgeons which focuses largely on the human anatomy. There were definitely a few standout pieces which were incredibly intriguing, but for the most part, one really
had to be a medical student to fully appreciate what one was looking at.

Definitely some interesting standouts to checkout with detailed write-ups. Unfortunately
no photos of the collection itself are allowed within the premises.

For a similar experience but with a larger focuses on animals life ( taking pictures not a
problem there), I'd recommend going to the Grant Museum of Zoology (opens only from 2pm).

Cycling in London
07Feb2016
Bicycle Rental starts at only £2
Dead simple! Do it once, and it'll probably be your staple mode of transport from here on end.
Step1
Insert credit card

Step 2
Choose the number of tickets you'd like to issue. (i.e how many people are going to be renting bikes)
If you're splitting up later on your journey, use your own credit card. The bikes and issuance of tickets are bounded to the credit card used.(New Tickets with digit codes are issued to unlock the bicycles at each stop.)
£2 Allows rental for the whole day at 30min intervals. (Additional charges apply in access of 30min blocks.)
Basically just park your bike at any of the bike stands within 30mins. You can rent out
another bike after 5mins by inserting your credit card and getting new coded tickets.
If the park bays are full, insert your credit card and it will grant you 15min extension to
find the next convenient parking location.
*the digit codes on the ticket releases the bikes from the docking station*Step3
Enter code, wait for green light and LIFT The Bike up slightly to unlock the bike
from the Depot. Enjoy!
The bikes themselves are incredibly comfortable and I must say quite impressed for a
£2 rental. They even have a three gear shift! Well worth it in the occasional nice London
weather. It's a breeze to get around.

ABBATip:
One should pretty much follow road rules. Treat you bicycle as a vehicle on the road and obey traffic stoplights and hand signal when turning.
There are tons off public bike rental locations all over London like these pictured. Keep an eye out and enjoy!
