Moskva to Sankt-Peterburg
St Petersburg
(ABBA Contribution Joshua Raj)
Getting There

1. Journey time approx 7+ hours by train (sleeper cabin)
2. Price varies with how far ahead you buy the ticket. We paid about $145 SGD for return tickets, when we bought it on the day we wanted to depart.
3. Best to buy on Russian Railways website http://pass.rzd.ru/main-pass/public/en not through the hotel. We saved about 2000 RUB = $40 SGD
4. Register on the website, you will need to access it to print and also a valid email to which the e-ticket will be sent to.
5. Select Moskva - Sankt-Peterburg and choose the date and time required. (Ideally depart at 11pm and you should reach by 7 am) This gives you ample time to move around the city. Most places open at 10am.

6. Select the trains you want to take.
7. Click on Car Plan and then Click on the seats you want. (note if they are male, female or mixed), then close the pop-up window.

8. Do the same for the return leg, then Continue.
9. On the next page you can re-select your seats, and fill in the passenger details. Please note that you will NEED YOUR PASSPORT when you enter the train with your printed e-ticket.
10. You can only book for a maximum of 4 passengers per transaction, just click the ADD button.
11. Buy Insurance if you prefer. (not a must)
12. Make your Payment.
13. Sign in to the website if you get logged out, and go to MY ORDERS.
14. Click on Order Form and Print ALL the tickets.
How to get to the train station (Moskva Leningradsky Station) Refer to Google Maps Attachment.
1. The Ticket says Moskva Oktobraskia, but the trains to St Petersburg run from LENINGRADSKY Station. 10 mins by taxi should be about 300 RUB = $6 SGD
2. Try to reach early in case you get lost. Trains leave ON TIME.
3. The Stations are really beautifully lit up at night, so give yourself some time to take pics.

To get on the train you need your passport, which will be compared against your ticket.
Depending on which train you selected and the services on board, you might have wifi and/or a snack bag.
Once you reach St Petersburg most places are accessible via the Metro which use a token concept, easily available from vending machines at the stations. Refer to the picture.
Please remember to keep your RETURN E-TICKET printout.
Recommended apps to use. City Maps 2 Go and Trip Advisor.
Please note that most museums are closed on Mondays.
