Source Text From Wikipedia; *The Naturmuseum Senckenberg in Frankfurt is the second largest museum of natural history in Germany. It is particularly popular with children, who enjoy the extensive collection of dinosaur skeletons: Senckenberg boasts the largest exhibition of large dinosaurs in Europe. One particular treasure is a dinosaur fossil with unique, preserved scaled skin. The museum contains the world's largest and most diverse collection of stuffed birds with about 2000 specimens.*
Probably not the best, original posting but the most concise description provided in wikipedia for details of the place. Like many other world class natural history museum, you get the usual displays from mammals to sea life, plant life, to prehistoric collection and further down the line geodes.
Aptly put, their bird displays were incredibly extensive, and definitely for bird enthusiast to see all species and form of birds. A huge collection of many, species I've never seen before.
*Probably the freakiest display. Was looking on one side at first, only to see that half of the dolphin was missing.*

Apart from their impressive bird collection, the few stand out for me were, their terrarium dioramas, the preserved creatures of the deep and off course dinosaur bone exhibit.
Unfortunately most of the signs are written in German. There are a few are written in English but this two and half leveled exhibit can be completed in approximately 1/1/2 to 2hrs of slow touring and non-comprehension of the display write ups.
Ok displays compared to other natural history musuems, with the dinosaur section lacking in luster. The entire enclosure looked like the setting for The Dark Knight tested his bat-mobile with Luscious Fox.

Exquisite collection. A simple three floor art gallery with categories of post modern from the 1800-1945, old masters 1300-1800 on the upper floor, and what I'd call to; " way to modern" 1945-present on the lower floors. Bags need to be checked into the coat room and there are lockers available as well at no additional charge.
 Post Mordern 1800-1945

*Pictured Center. One of the age old stories where a man pulls out a thorn from the lion's paw. Pictured right, an orphanage in Amsterdam where at one end the girls play in the sun whilst the other engages in a quiet day sewing and chatting amongst themselves.*

Distinctively Monet. A beauty to see how water reflections are depicted in his unique style.

*Pictured left, Story of Samson and Delilah where Samson strength comes from his long hair, but was seduced by Delilah and betrayed by her.*
Old masters 1300-1800

*Pictured left, the life story of John the Baptist. Pictured center, the sins of man. A commissioned piece.*

*Center piece. The women representing the arts, sculpting, architecture and music*
1945-present on the lower floors
*Pictured left, a table of glued down art materials depicting the life of the artist moving from one location to the other. Pictured right, a longer explanation for a very messy art piece. Personally, I find the more modern the art gets, the less craft and the more explanation is required to compensate.*
Signs are clearly demarcated to guide you accordingly through the gallery, however almost all write-ups on the plaques are in German. An audio guide at €4 is highly recommended. The audio descriptions are around the 1min range and are incredibly palatable with their short sweet excerpts, bringing deeper into the picture and the thought process behind the masterful works.

Although the cover charge is a little bit steep, but for the old masters and post modern art pieces, its defiantly worth the visit, especially with the audio guide. There's a very nice bistro on site as well to have a cuppa in between viewing the galleries.
