Cafe Lutipold
(Located beside residenz and recommended by Catherine)

Michelin guide for 2015/16/17
*Looks like some great simple take away options*

Click here for ABBA location of Cafe Lutipold
An absolutely stunning court yard located just a stone’s throw away from Residenz Platz. (Click here for full review). Beautifully designed with the balance of nature and natural light. Absolutely stunning and definitely instagram worthy. The place is packed and advance booking is advisable though they accept walk-ins as well. Chances of dining in the enclosed courtyard itself is slim.

Tomato-bell pepper soup with a praline made of goat’s cheese and smoked oil €7.90
*Exquisite! The roast from the capsicum soup shines through. Served together with a ball of creamy goat’s cheese, its pure umami. Stunning red with a white center. Totally worth the order.*
Stewed Ox cheeks a la bordelaise with baby carrots and
truffled purple potato mash €17.90

*This dish was pretty okay. The purple mash is more of a gimmick really but the ox cheeks were prepared well. The sauce well balanced and accents the slow cooked cheeks beautifully.*
Pastry with veal stew, vegetables and cooked
au gratin with tarragon-hollandaise sauce. €16.60

*The crust was where the money was at. Flaky, light and went beautifully with its filling. The vegetables weren’t at all over cooked and really shown true. A slightly elevated version of a basic pie.*
Roasted quail breast with apple-celery salad, marinated
wild herbs and crystallised walnuts €12.95

Though tastefully presented, the apple salary slaw is a little bit of a let down. It tastes very similar to coleslaw. The refreshing cucumber strips were interesting though and food for thought for other salad dishes. The quail breast, though perfectly prepared, for lack of better words pretty much taste like chicken.
Dessert
Desserts can be added on. Of the three, top selection goes to the chocolate which has a Roche texture and taste to it, followed by strawberry and lastly the lime tart (which was a little too sour.)
Total fed 4 at about €25 each with tip.
A pretty good overall dining experience which could have faired better if not for the less than friendly staff that we approached upon first entry. The first two gents we asked for seating did acknowledged our existence but did not help in finding a table. We weren't even shown to a preoccupied table and left there. Only later when we were tended by another female staff was service way better.
Initial service setbacks aside, t
he desert section were fantastic and worth the order. Even for quick takeaway sandwiches and desserts, this place is worth a visit especially after a tour of the Residenze or after shopping along walking street.

Spaghetti Vongole 6.50Euros
*The pasta was done al dente. Not that many clams to bring the flavors of the sea, but a pretty simple dish.*
Bella Italia +rucola 8.10Euros

*Classic Itlian pairing. Pretty ok pizza.*
Four Cheese Pizza 11.60Euros

*4 cheeses. You can't go wrong. The only
down side is the crusts here are on the soggy side.*
Spaghetti Scampi (not pictured) 11.60Euros *Reported to be salty and with a sporadic sprinkling of scampi meat.*
Fed 4 at about 14Euros each.
A simple place if looking for some pasta dishes. For cheaper and maybe better thin crusted pizzas, one is better of going to Pizzescos with huge pizza slices at 3euros a slice.
