Ordered a few bears and a bottle of 12yr Glenfiddich Whisky. Bill should be around RMB1200.

Karaoke rooms were avail on site but staff said there wouldn't be additional charges as they had ordered a fair amount prior.

As patrons sang and drank amongst themselves, suddenly two "servers" (looks wise is subjective and shall not comment here) appeared and sat with the gents. This instantly put up some red flags and sure enough the bill came to RMB3000+.

Long story short, bill was settled, however, "servers" on top of that had demanded TIP of RMB200 which was not entertained. Server vented loudly, screaming and shouting.

Upon checkout, it was later found out from the conceirge that Qatar crew had on previous occasion been conned similarly, faced with a RMB3000 bill.

Reports of Taxi's Not willing to send you back to hotel especially when late at night*Taxi's Not Willing To Transport you back to Crowne Plaza Shanghai Pudong due to its location. Be aware of last train services!*

Crowne Plaza Shanghai Pudong is pretty much a self contained mini community within a light industrial estate, located away from anything else. One stays pretty much at the end the train line and takes at least a half hour by cab to get anywhere significant. 

Click here for ABBA directions and travel time to Ya Tai Market.There is a shuttle service that runs about four times a day that brings you to Ya Tai market to get souvenirs and bootlegs goods as well as some other lesser known locations. Refer to the concierge for more details.Ya Tai Market is single storied, underground shopping located right at the train station, located 35min by shuttle service ride, or over 40mins train ride away from Crowne Plaza Shanghai Pudong. A single storied, under ground shopping selling trinkets and mostly
specializing in clothing. (Tailored clothing and Cheong sums).
F.Y.I It is also the station to the Shanghai Science and technology museum which is quite a good walk and look around (half day). Very impressive and interesting. Pics were from previous holiday trip in 2009.

 

 

A whole string of eateries line the front of the hotel for your dining options.

Further more, a block down there is Century World (500m walk), pretty much a Carrefour for your household and grocery needs.

*Make shift pet shop outside of Century Mart*

There are a sporadic sprinkling of clothing and shopping options which line the street as well, but they don't come cheap.
