S&P Lunch
(Opens 8am)
Previously known as Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop
Established in 1928 by Austrian Jewsih Immigrants.
*You can still see the previous sign above S&P*
Though not reaching international acclaim as Katz's this establishment has been under change of management of up to seven times, but as they claim no lacking in the quality of their dishes. From the reviews they were best known for their Tuna Toasties and Pastrami.
*There's only counter service in the morning, but the place filled out fast
with doors opening at 8am*

Ordered On:
28Sep23

As most agreed the Flatiron with corned beef & Tuna Melt (they somehow incorporated a char flavor into the tuna which was really nice.) were the two crowd favorites.
Their pastrami was good too but the Reuben was a little on the salty side.
4 Dishes ordered feeding 5 at USD16/pax with tip.
Food 3.5/5
*Overall a 3.5 but the Tuna Melt and Flat iron were a solid 4/5*
Service 3/5
Ambience 3.5/5
Value 3.5/5
You pay for what you get in terms of the amount of meat cuts. Simple, enjoyable classic sandwiches. Click here for the more famous and highly acclaimed Katz's Delicatessen.
Another location for simple toasties in Perth is trendy Toast Face Grillah.

Delmonico's
(we tried our luck for an early walk in dinner at 6pm
as there were no more reservation slots)
Recommend by Johannes A
Delmonico's, located in New York City, is one of the oldest fine dining restaurants in the United States, dating back to 1837 when it was founded by Swiss immigrants, the Delmonico brothers.

Their claims to fame for pioneering culinary innovations in America such as:
- Introducing the A la carte Menu

- Introducing the Ribeye Cuts, the Manhatten, Eggs Benedict, baked Alaskan, lobster Newburg and more.
- Delmonico's has had a long history of serving U.S. presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and Theodore Roosevelt, further adding to its prestige and reputation.
You might also be interested in these other dining established graced by Presidential patronage and gained popularity.
- President Barrack Obama, Summer House, Singapore.

- President Bill Clinton Mekong, Melbourne. Standards have dropped significantly over the years.
Ordered On:
28Sep23
Signature Delmonico Steak USD79
*With signature marination and prepared beautifully. Great marbling leaving your taste buds and lips coated with a luxurious layer of beef flavor and fat. Amazing.*
French Fries truffle USD11
*For a side, its disappointing. Both the fries and sauce were salty and some of the fries were on the soggy side.*
Alaskan USD24
*A great way to end the night. Best described as frozen Tokyo Banana up-scaled in totality with a lightly torched meringue exterior.*
Fed 2 at a total of USD140 with tip

Food 3.5/5
*We both felt that the cold bread rolls and salty non-crispy fries pulled the overall score down. The steak and dessert were however a strong 4/5*
Service 4/5
Ambience 3.5/5
*
Mostly for its historical significance but the place is a little more noisy that one would like and a little strained to have a conversation.*
Value 3.5/5
For its historic significance in the world as well as supposed introduction of the popular rib-eye cut, its worth a try and to enjoy. The fresh churned butter was a delight but it would have scored much better with artisanal bread rolls and fries. The large crystalized salt flakes on request was really enjoyable with the meal.

A personal but non-pivotal point, was that if they'd served clear ice for the water would have really fancied up the experience.

Fans of John Wick the movie might be interested to know that The Continental is located just around the corner.

Highly recommended if in the area for a fancy steak meal. Will try Keen's perhaps another time.

Bluestone Lane
(Chain establishment) @ Upper East Side Cafe

(Closed Mon. Opens 7am)

A small place located right beside the Guggenheim museum and attached to a quaint church. Most known for their smashed avocado toast and probably coffee.
Ordered On:
29Sep23
*Simple ingredients that's well executed. Will have to try their coffee next time.*
Fed 1. Smashed Avocado and a Hot Chocolate
USD22 with tip.
Food 4/5
Service 4/5

*Free wifi and staff weren't at all pushy to get you out especially during this record rainfall event in NYC*
Ambience 3.5/5
*Though pretty, its a little too small. What you see is what you get. Quaint.*
Value 3/5
Looking for a place with some nice arches, that's open early, has free WiFi and located beside central park as well, this is one place you could come check out.

Kuu Ramen

According to the article, its the place to find the city's best ramen. . . If looking for comfort food in the area, Kuu would be it, if one doesn't mind a bit of a wait time. The place is really small and can't accommodate large groups.
Ordered On:
30Sep23
*Though well stuffed, the stuffing is very salty.
The vinegar dipping sauce could be stronger in flavor.*

*The char siew is very well executed. The ramen is more like an instant noodles texture. The soup bases aren't very distinctive and the marinated egg is too salty as well. It could do better having a more runny texture.*
Fed 2 at USD52 total with tip
Food 3/5
Service 3/5
Ambience 3.5/5
Value 3/5

Fed 2 at 52USD
If its bad weather and one is not wanting to go far, willing to have to wait for a table spot and looking for comfort food, I guess this would be it in the area. So-so only. The chili ramen wasn't all that spicy either.

Flat Iron Building
The Flatiron Building in New York City is known for its unique triangular design resembling a flat iron. Built in 1902, it's a historic skyscraper and iconic city symbol located in the bustling Flatiron District. It's also known for its historical significance as one of New York City's early skyscrapers and its enduring status as a symbol of the city's skyline.

The building has seen better days and will have to view it in its full glory once the scaffolding is taken down.

Harry Potter New York

FREE to enter and experience

Call it Harry Potter experience lite. Free to enter with all the magic and memorabilia one can buy with a couple of actual props used in the filming.
*Very expensive Yu-shang chopsticks at USD35/wand*
The best surprise was got to be the draft butter beer bar! USD12 and you get to keep the dish washer safe friendly cup.
They sell bottled butter beer as well, which staff shared was less sweet and bubbly than the draft. Always go for draft.

Fishs Eddy
(
Opens10am)
A unique shop that's been selling unused, obsolete surplus, American made restaurant ware since 1986. A fun pop around to check out especially and have a laugh or two of what they have to offer.
Fun largely homeware shop suitable as a gift for others.

The Museum at FIT (Free to enter)
Local Fashion museum and Opens at 12pm. Closed Mon and Tue
This time's exhibit featured Food and Fashion and how it has influenced fashion design for over 250years.
*Dolce & Gabana, dress, spring 2017*
*Fendi designed this "Pasta" necklace as Italy is famous for both its food and fashion*
Ramen inspired
The other section was the unwearable collection, inspired by the lived experiences of those with generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP). Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare and severe form of psoriasis, a chronic skin condition. It is characterized by the sudden onset of widespread, painful, and pus-filled blisters (pustules) on the skin.

Creel and Gow
Opens 10am
I'd have to make a trip down another time. Probably due to the heaviest rainfall recorded on this day in NYC, staff couldn't get to the store. Oddities and taxidermy items for sale. Its something like The Evolution store.

New York City declares state of emergency due to flooding*

A piece of the Berlin Wall
A piece of history that divided east and west Germany. A symbolic structure that took away freedom but also symbolizes that walls can be taken down to reunite people. The Berlin wall fell in 09Nov1989.
