Picho - Hitsumabushi Unagi
あつた蓬莱軒 松坂屋店
1.5km walk from Hilton Nagoya
11pm-230pm

5-9pm

Located on the 7th Floor of Lachic and came recommended by Japanese Crew.
It's a bit of a walk to the seemingly main shopping district of Nagoya.
Ordered On:
17Sept2018
Eel Bone 650Yenn
*Just wanted to try this as this was sold out at Yo Ne Yi Chi on the last visit.
Nicely seasoned but nothing really too special about it. Can give a skip.*
Basic Hitsumabushi Unagi 3400++ Yenn x2 set

*A classic way of having eel in Nagoya, Picho serves Hitsumabushi like any other. One way is to have it straight up as is, followed by a sprinkling of finely sliced leeks and lastly topped off with the soup. It really is a personal preference on how you like it, but it doesn't differ too much from other locations serving Hitsumabushi.*
Total Fed 2 at 4000Yenn each
Ambience 3.5/5
Food 3.5/5
Value 3/5
Service 3/5
Finally having tried another Hitsumabushi Unagi, in comparison to Yo Neh Yi Chi located a stone's throw from Hilton Nagoya, the eel served at Picho, on the plus side is a little bit fattier. Picho however gives a lot more rice and the soup base here is much lighter than that of Yo Neh Yi Chi (A matter of preference on how you would like to enjoy the soupy way of Hitsumabushi Unagi).

Though the condiments here are at Picho are superior by way of leeks over spring onion, the overall cost to value experience is lacking. For a near 30% increase in cost with the marginal difference in Unagi quality, and toppings, the more value for money dining would be over at Yo Neh Yi Chi.
