Fortune Five Chinese restaurant
Opens 10.30am-3pm and 3pm-10pm

Located in North bridge and right beside San Churros (for the best hot chocolate so far), lays Fortune Five Chinese restaurant. A popular locale for dim sum that also filled up within the hour. Others have also reported they are known for their roasted duck as well.
Ordered on:
08Sept2017
Pineapple bun

*Pretty okay. Good texture but could have faired better on the filling. Pretty average.*
Bean curd wrapped meat

Steamed bbq pork bun

Zha leong (Fried dough fritter wrapped in rice flour.)

*Their sauce isn’t too sweet. Defiantly go for seafood filled one. A great thin sheet over a still crispy interior.*
Fried salt and pepper squid

*Really, really good. Not too oily and the flavors from the green and red chilli were really subtle. We were so very very tempted to go for a reorder.*
Prawn chive dumpling
Egg and milk custard

*Amazing must order especially fresh out of the oven! The crust is crispy, flaky and not at all oily. The custard fillings were best enjoyed when still hot. By far one of the best egg tarts had and can give Hong Kong’s Tai cheong bakery a run for its money. A must order!*
Xiao Long Bao*Alright. It could do well with more soup in the wrapping.*
XO carrot cake
*Pretty interesting. They pan fry the edges off nicely for a bit of crust. The inside are moist and flavourful.*
Garlic pork rib
*Really soft and tender pork ribs with that aromatic garlic flavors. One of the better ones had and as memorable as the stand out pork rib dim sum in Fung Shing Located in HongKong.
Beef ball

*Nothing special. Okay only.*
Fed4 at AUD22 each
Additional order of salt egg custard bun. The filling was good but the bun itself was too thick. Could have done much better with a thinner exterior. The best had so far is still from Fu Xing Sharks fin restaruant from HKG.
The stand outs over here were the garlic pork ribs, the fried salt and pepper squid and their amazing fresh baked Portuguese tarts. A must reorder!

In comparison to New Moon, Fortune Five offers greater variety and are more frequent with their push carts to entice you. Greater variety and quality hands down. The downside is that this place has got a later opening time at 10.30am. 1hr later than New Moon and it did get a bit stuffy on our visit as the airflow lacked.

Pretty fair value and can match up to some Hong Kong Dim Sum joints
Visited on 15April22 the new Wing at Fortune Five!
*Super solid roast pork. Can't go wrong really and QUALITY standard like those in Hongkong!*
15April22
*Still as good as ever in the new extension wing! Their egg tart still an epic home run!*
