The lavender fields peak during the months of mid July to early August.  Its best to arrive early as crowds pick up by around 11am.
Uber there and back due time constraints cost us £60 total. About 50min journey out. 4pax would be most economical and cost saving, being only slightly more than going about via public.
Getting there yourself
Hongji - "Lavender in peak season at Mayfield Lavender Farm, Banstead. Ends late August. Take southern rail from London Victoria station to West Croydon, then walk to nearby bus stop (West Croydon Bus Stop) to board bus 166 to alight at Oaks Park, right in front of lavender farm. Train and bus fare all can be paid by Oyster card. Just tap at the gantry. One way to West Croydon by train is around 7 pounds. Normally 1-2 hour affair at the farm. Afterwards, take opposite direction bus 166 back to West Croydon to spend the afternoon in this bustling town. Do go early around 7.30am from Victoria to reach the farm at 9 am opening time to beat the crowd and book best picture spots without photo bombs. Entry to farm is 1 pound."

Roy Oh "the overground rail ride, check the board for the platform towards SUTTON. Once at the West Croyton, the bus terminal is just across the road.
Train Coming back will be side across. Again check the board for the platform and time arriving towards Victoria London.
The return fare cost 3.3 pound though when I took around 6 plus evening. Overall the whole transport cost around 7 pounds"

Good lavender themed breakfast treats on site to enjoy throughout the day. Their scones were filled with lavender flavrours. The icecream was a little suttle though but you can't go wrong with any of their sweet treats. Bunches of lavender for sale at 4pounds each of 3 bunches for 10.
Mayfield Lavender park is perfect for a lovely half day activity out and about. Recommended to have breakfast and spend about 2hrs there.
Seating at the farm itself is limited but their onsite eats are great. Portaloos available onsite for quick changes. Some wedding couples were also onsite for their photo-shoots.
