On
e of the
latest trendy dining spots in town. Located in the heart of Seletar Aerodrome, the old black and white bungalows have been re-purposed. Now home to a number of dining establishments, one of which, is Wheeler's Estate, a spin off, the ever popular Wheeler's Yard and their iconic blue doors. Although their grounds are huge, their air-conditioned seating capacity on the second floor is relatively limited.

The decorations both interior and exterior are on point, and compliments the colonial bungalows. On a cool night, out door dining can be magical with their hanging lights. It is located a third down the southerly approaches am plane watching maybe a possibility.

Grilled Octopus SGD22
Almond skordalia, green harissa, peas, bottarga and red pickled onions.

*Octopus is a difficult protein to master really. Under or over cook it and it gets firm. Over at Wheeler's, they didn't quite make it. It is a little on the firm side in comparison to the best had so far in London's Duck and Waffle. Their beautiful serving of grill octopus comes with a light char flavor, and accompany condiments give a stellar showing. I personally enjoyed the salt accents and micro greens that add to the beauty and flavors of the dish. A strong showing for the dish and worth the order to be shared and enjoyed.
T-Bone Steak (500g) SGD99
Duck fat roasted potatoes
*Nothing duck fat about it. Its just well roasted potatoes.*
Green beans sauteed with pancetta and pecorino
*Beautiful, and simple. The beans weren't overcooked, and flavors balanced beautifully with the salty pancetta and sharp pecorino. Aromatic and simple to do. Will definitely incorporate this into future home cooking.*
*The T-Bone steak served is a beautiful cut of meat, with nice fat distribution. However the meat itself does lack salt seasoning and without the strong, sweet/sour (defaulted) sauce served along side, it may lack luster. For steaks especially, in my books, its a little disappointing when its not served on a warmed plate. In fact the Worcester like sauce served along side, thickened as it got colder. A bit of a let down on that aspect. Other than that, the meat was well rested, and a bit of olive oil drizzled at the bottom goes a long way to make the meat juicier. Its done very similar to Florentine steak, Milan.*
Fed 2 SGD141.57 Total

The clientele here is a little different. Its some where in between high end and hipster. You've got fancy cars parked up front from European cars ranging to Minis, with professionals to trendy people. The new 'it' place to see and be seen.
The food was fairly good, but edging on the pricier side. Looking at Wheeler's Estate as an overall experience, the service did not match the asking price. The place was marginally understaffed (as off 8pm) and the first table we were seated at was lob-sided. On arrival, there wasn't any real clear hand-off from front of house staff to the upper story where the main seating was.

Trendy new location, with nice outdoor seating on a cool night. The music was a little on the loud side and may drown out conversations. Overall a nice dining location with good eats that can consider a return for celebratory eats.

Currently Wheeler's has no promotions with Credit Card companies or employees from the aviation line but are looking into it.
