A western food stall was recommended to go try along Jalan Selaseh, and this was the one which caught our hungry eye. The place is rather dated and its a reminder of how the old family restaurant, Borshch Steakhouse in Serangoon Gardens
  Ordered On
07Oct2016

 Soup of the Day
Cream Fish Chowder SGD4.90

*Nothing chowderish about it. Its just cream soup with what I suspect to be Sutchi fish. No real distinct flavors apart from textural fish flakes. The toast though flavored with garlic sprinkles was over toasted.*
Caesar Salad SGD11.90

*You do get your ingredients worth. They have a fried egg/quiche on top and a good serving of bacon and grilled chicken. Almost a meal onto itself. The dish could really have been a star, but the warm salad was a turn off. Probably room temperature greens, with hot eggs and chicken thrown on, really just wilted the greens. Could have been a winner, but fell short. Value order though cause of all that you are getting.*
*It looks like it tastes. Cheese from a bottle, together with a lack luster fry and insufficient batter for the chicken. In fact it could use a little more seasoning. The fries were okay but nothing to scream about.*
Pork Rack SGD25.90
*Their signature*

*To be honest, it looked really appetizing in their poster picture, but the end result a little meh... The pork needed much more caramelization for the sear and seasoning. A little on the dry side, but its hard to get a beautiful pork chop cut done right. The mash on the salty side and their bbq sauce so-so.*
Total SGD64.60 Fed 2

Service was pretty good. In fact, boarder lining on being almost over zealous. It was a little surprising that some of their signature pressure (cooked crispy chicken) was not in stock on a Friday night! This place is just nostalgic of Borshch Steakhouse in Serangoon Gardens and offers nothing more.
I suspect the recommended joint western food joint, was actually the quaint corner hawker stall along the Jalan Salseh, selling old fashion hawker western food. A case of mistaken recommendation with no name! Damn. For another time to try!
(I think the actual recommendation to check out! Saved for another time.
Opens only from 3pm onwards)
