Emporium Shokuhin at Marina Square
nearest Esplanade Mrt Station

04Aug2016
Emporium Shohukhin, is as advertised, a mini Japan and consist of a Japanese supermarket, with an amazing live seafood section with reasonable prices! (especially for the shashimi grade Salmon). The area is surrounded by a number of specialized Japanese restaurants, all of which under the Shokuhin umbrellas. On this occasion, we were able to try the Sushi/Sashimi Section and Yakiniku section.
Ordered On:

Senmi Sushi
 Thick Cut Chirashi SGD26
*Definitely good cuts of fish here. Fresh cuts thats for sure. The gohan (rice) could be a little more liberal. A beautiful presentation, but a very shallow bowl with only 2 cuts of fish each.*
Otoro Nigiri SGD8.80 each but 1-for-1 with OCBC promo
*The omega 3 star that's for sure. The cuts are fairly sized, and only with the 1 for 1 deal promo at the time, were the orders really worth it. This is especially so for Singapore regular retail prices. Superb and what top quality otoro ought to look like (referenced from Japan eats) Amazing and not chutooro trying to be passed of as Ottoro deal.
Salmon Platter SGD17.09
*Absolutely beautiful cuts of fish. The salmon was nice and firm with generous fat distribution. The flesh was a nice firm texture and meat tasted sweet. I'd thought it was King Salmon initially, but was later shared they are Atlantic Salmon. The fatty cuts were beautifully presented and definitely a step up. The other two were both equally well prepared and torched just the right amount. Only down side, its barely filling.*

Quality at a price. They could be more generous with the rice cause after this meal, especially with fish, you'd be hungry later in the night.
Gyuu Yakiniku Grill
A5 Jo Karubi SGD35
*Fat = flavor. Really good and loving how they serve it. A dish with some beef sauce, along with a wedge of lemon and a small mound of sauce. A beautiful combination. Fairly price in comparison to Japan chain Gyu-Kaku.*Rice SGD3
Total 44.73SGD Fed2
Stick to the Ar-la-carte menu if you're going for their Waygu cuts. You get prime Waygu cuts as opposed to the buffet where you get only a subprime shavings of waygu and other beef/pork fillers. Stick to the stars and enjoy the quality and get more bang for your buck.

Overall dining experience, quality of food wise, there's no compromise. Top quality eats, but price point maybe a little on the steep side. This is especially so if their fillers (rice) are a little restrained. However, the place offered a nice, quality sampling from each of the two restaurants and defiantly meets up to being a mini Japan.

For those who seek it, they sell award winning Hibiki and Yamzaki here
