25Nov25Day7/Day2
(Cultural walk)
Food around the Jalan Fettes area.

*What cooking with real fire looks like to get that authentic Wok-hei.*
There's plenty of food options all over Penang. Just sharing some enclaves where you can kind of get the usual top hits and some rarer finds such as the two street eats below. Ban Chang Gui and Roti Bak-Kwa.
ABBATip:
- You can order from other stalls who maybe beside your particular coffee shop.
- Most hawkers will deliver to you straight.
- Cash is easiest for food payments.

Jalan Fettes in particular you can get your traditional Ben Chian Kueh fresh from standing push stall Ah Chuan Ban Chian Kueh (been going to this guy for years). Roti Bak-kwa (Charcoal heated Bak-kwa with secret sauce in soft bread rolls) is located just across from him. Simple yet comfort food.

*Chao Xiang roast meats*
There is also the Old City Food Court with lots of offerings and ChaoXiang for their roasted meats and in house mala sauces.

Little India

*The street art and Goddess of Mercy Temple are all in the same area as is little India*
Goddess of Mercy Temple

The oldest Chinese Temple in Penang, built in 1728.

Chew Jetty

*With the added Panda from Foreign artist on Penang's street art which
was frowned upon in Nov25*

Online does say there's a boat ride but there's no one there. They only do boat rides on Fridays for RM20/pax. Details are scarce and there's only a contract number at the jetty for you to try and fish out more info.

*Tailored for the foreign tourist who just want to try a single seed of the king of fruit.*
Chew Jetty is a historic Chinese waterfront settlement in George Town, Penang, established in the late 1800s by the Chew clan. It’s a living heritage site where descendants of original settlers still live in traditional wooden houses on stilts.

They've got nice quaint shops worth checking out with views of the Penang Bridge.

Gurney Plaza for shopping
Gurney Food Hall found at Lvl4

Looking for some shopping and good eats, in-doors and air-conditioning? Gurney Plaza achieves that with their Gurney Food Hall. Good variety of local food offerings. Their prices are probably in the range of RM18-25 per dish given the fancier location.

26Nov25 Day8/Day3
Enjoying Penang Beaches

Enjoy the beauty of Penang beaches, picking up seashells and sometime able to hand catch ghost crabs which are frequently seen in the early mornings as well.

Tanjung Bungah Market and Food Complex Area

*Char Mee Swaw with Duck egg for a richer deeper flavor.*
Everything that you'd probably want in your local eats. All the favorite eats like curry mee, char kway teow with option of duck egg, to Roti Canais. Huge complex and loads of meal options across from there as well. Feel free to explore. All sure pass one. In Penang if don't pass, the place doesn't last very long in this food haven.

Teluk Bahang Dam

The dam serves as one of Penang's main water sources. A nice look out spot before heading onward to Enthopia.

Enthopia
Opens 9am-5pm

2Adults and 2Children RM238 for Non-malaysians

(Previously known as the Penang Butterfly farm)

*Loads of free flying butterflies.*
*What the Butterfly wings look like in close up detail.*
It's nice to see this place getting its upgrades. It's changed much and has a little something for all ages. Especially so with the macro and micro photography sections. The place is inviting and worth half a day's exploration.

Dinner and free fire shows at Ferringhi Bay

*Fed 4 at about RM120.
80RM for the baked fish and seafood set with addons of vegetables and fried rice.*
We had dinner at Barracuda Grill which was okay. There are more affordable options which go for 18-25RM a meal along this stretch of the beach and you can checkout Battu Ferringhi stalls after.

The best thing about this place besides the sand in your feet and the view, its the "free-to-watch" fire performances by the fire hunters in front of most of the eateries. Amazing experience and worth to come here to find a meal that suits your budget.

27Nov25 Day9/Day4
Penang Hill
RM30/A and RM15/C

It took us about 45mins to get to ride the tram which brings us up in 5minutes. The tram travels at 30km/hr and has gone through several upgrades over the years.

The nicer attractions like the new Habitat (which we didn't go) comes at a pretty penny but reviews have been really positive and offers really nice views of the city.

The place inspires artist to paint the scenery and there's enough to explore as well as local eats to meet anyone's budget. An iconic attraction when in Penang.
ABBATip:
- Always watch out for monkeys. Don't have your plastic bags or bottles in the open but secure them in your backpacks.
JJ Garden Foodcourt

We had dinner primarily at Daniel Grilled Fish and Fresh seafood which was fantastic. Some other unique standouts were their freshly made Apoms and Orh Jian (Oyster Omelet). A new hidden food court that would be on our go to joint when in the area.

*Steamed fish with baked crab and fried clams from Daniel's*

28Nov25 Day10/Day5
A quiet day in the Gurney Area
D Lap Family Drift Kart
RM35 or RM45 pending weight limit of vehicles for 10mins.

A fun indoor Kart drifting in Gurney Paragon. It's pretty cool with leader boards as well as giving you a print out of your best lap. It can get competitive with all the fun you have drifting. L

TGV Cinemas
Watching movies at TGV cinemas where the seats and sounds are better.

Dinner at
James Foo

A taste of nostalgic, hawker styled western food which started from humble beginnings in1985 to now Penang's popular comfort food chain known for affordable and hearty meals.

Click here for ABBA location of James Foo at Tanjung Katong.

29Nov25 Departure Day6 & Home
Batu Ferringhi Iron Waterfall
(A local's waterplay area)

It has shallow stream pools with gentle cascades where children can safely wade and splash. The unique "Iron-tinted" Rocks come from minerals in the rock.

*The mini adventure trail to the waterfall.*
Parking is available at RM5. We're not sure if its legitimate but someone will come up and let you know and collect the payment. The drive to the small parking space is a little rugged but getting there would mean a short 5-10min walk you're at the falls.
