The Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan is one of the city's oldest churches, originally built by Saint Ambrose. *Saint Ambrose was a 4th-century bishop of Milan known for his influence on early Christian theology, his opposition to Arianism, and for baptizing Saint Augustine.*First visited in 15June2013

*The art work is reminiscent of the those in the Hagia Sofia, Istanbul (Where religions come co-existed). *
The legend of the Devil’s Column at Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio tells of Saint Ambrose driving the Devil into a marble column, leaving two holes from where his horns got stuck. The column can still be seen outside the basilica, with the holes visible to visitors.

(A must. Art gallery and beauty all in one. The "Sistine Chapel" of Milan)

*John the Baptist baptizing Jesus*
A student of Leonardo da Vinci. The place is often referred to as Milan's "Sistine Chapel" Click here for full review of the OG Sistine Chapel. It is also renowned for its ingenious trompe-l'œil perspective by Bramante, which creates the illusion of a deep apse in a very shallow space—making it a must-see for lovers of art, architecture, and optical illusions.
Unassuming from the outside but what a pleasant reward on the inside. A mini art gallery depicting stories from the bible. The place reminds me of Zedel, London, a Michelin recommended joint in London where unassuming façade leads to a beautiful underground dining space (Great Gatsby like). Well worth a pop-in to eat or just enjoy the space.

Worth to check out. A free space to explore the beautiful masterful art works of the times in this quaint church.
