The USS Intrepid is one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. She is the fourth US Navy ship to bear the name.
The entire place is very simply split into the stand-alone submarine, USS Growler, and the concord with the floating city USS Intrepid which houses everything else and large enough to also hold a SPACE SHUTTLE ENTERPRISE!

The former USS Growler first opened at the Intrepid Museum in 1989 and is the only American guided missile submarine open to the public.

There are additional add-on options which allow for a tour and visit to the cockpit of the concord.
USS Intrepid
The
moving city! Probably the best way to cover is to systematically cover
from the top and slowly make your way down. Loads to see with various
planes on the deck and stowed on the lower levels. Impressive on various
fronts and can get a little confusing at times.

Space Shuttle ENTERPRISE
Located on the deck of the USS Intrepid and is inclusive of the entry ticket. Space Shuttle Enterprise was the prototype NASA orbiter that paved the way for the space shuttle program.
Highly recommended and a great half day program that's quasi sheltered from the elements. Lots of reading material, information and audio playbacks at various touch points. Well worth the visit when in the area to check out USS intrepid.
