Savoury

Located along Jalan Kayu, this unassuming facade hides a pretty cool, hip bistro. A nice comfortable dining environment with natural sky light. No service charge here!
Ordered On:
23Oct2016
Mushroom soup SGD5 as a set order

*Nice thick soup and served HOT!! Nice textured mushroom bits and not too creamy. Although no service charge is incurred, service is good. They were nice enough to change the mushroom soup arlacarte order to a set meal which includes a drink of choice. Cheaper too. The drink, I must say was served up beautifully with lemon wedge and all. Effort. . .*
Seafood Alfredo Linguine 14.8
*Its alright. Nice creamy texture and linguine done nicely. The taste of the seafood could be better infused with the cream sauce though. Simple indulgence.*
Four mushroom Aglio Olio SGD8.8

*A tad bit on the salty side. Nice garlic flavors, and a warm spice from the chilli. The pasta is done a perfect al dente. Nice.*
Signature waffles with choice of one scoop of flavor. salted ice cream 14.0
*Anything done fresh is definitely good. Its a hugeeeee serving and definitely an order to share! The dusting of cinnamon on the fruit works. Its just like having warm apple pie that grandma makes. The salted egg ice cream was on point. Yolky and custardy.*
Total fed 2 at. SGD45.60
Nice environment, decent enjoyable pasta served here. Their made to order waffles are the star here with the great selection of ice creams.
Casual dining in a bistro like atmosphere located along Jalan Kaku.

Grills Pizza and Pasta
(recommended by others for their pizzas)

Located just around the corner, this 4/5 star trip advisor rated place came recommended for their pizzas which we absolutely went for.
DAMN worth it lunch deal thats valid 12-6pm Mon to Friday!
Ordered On:
29Oct2017Zucchini, olive and goat cheese pizza and Smoked Haddock Risotto.
*The pizza was nice. Goat cheese flavors really do shine through. The subtle smokey flavor of the haddock worked kinda like smoked salmon in the seafood-ish risotto. Really good and as usual a fair value meal.*
Fed2 at about 12pounds each with tip

Ordered On:
12March2017
Hoi Sin Duck and Italian smoked ham Pizza with spicy seafood risotto.
*As good as always from previous orders. Reviews further down*
Fed 3 with drink at 15pounds each

Lunch deal set ordered

Wildwood offpeak specials. Pizzas are full sized and man do you get your fill! 10 pounds and you get choice of two courses and a drink to boot! Too good a deal and definitely eat your fill!
Ordered On:
 13Dec2016
Salami Pizza and christmas special, cranberry, goat cheese pizza, Beer
*Pizza here is still just as good as remembered. The salami pizza is a little on the spicy side but crust still super light and delectable. The table side spice olive oil goes perfectly together with the fresh pizza. Their Christmas concoction just as good! I thought it'd be more sweet than savory, but the balance of sweet and salty really worked out fantastic!*

Wild Mushroom and Truffle Oil 9.35pounds
*The truffle flavors weren't as strong as expected, but the fresh thyme was delightful*
Peri-Peri Chicken 9.85pounds
*Chicken is a little on the dry side and the a little light on the peri peri.*
 Hoi Sin Duck 9.35pounds
*This was really quite nice. They could have some refinement on the large cut cucumbers and scallions but it really does taste like the Peiking duck rolls. Nice flavor but can be better with finer cut vegetables.*
Italian smoked Ham and Rocket 9.95pounds
*The star but definitely elevated with the onion jam! A nice sweet balance to offset the cured hams. The winner among the rest of the pizzas.*
Seafood Risotto 11.20pounds
*Divine. Fresh basal together with the caringly prepared seafood risotto was absolutely amazing. A fresh squeeze of lemon, and grating of cheese hits the spot.*
Total fed 4 15pounds each.
Very good standing pizzas with a nice thin crust without being to doughy. Plus, the place is a short 100m walk from Gloucester Hotel, perfect for a good quick dash to for eats and great dining. The smoked ham is the clear winner, but would defiantly return to try out the rest of the dishes when tight on time. Whats really nice is the spiced olive oil table side which goes beautifully with the pizzas.

36M.S Handmade Yun Tun Noodles
Ordered On:
15Oct2016
Shredded Chicken Noodles
*The Chicken Noodle were totally drenched in the black sauce and that's pretty much all you taste. The noodle are the same as that used for the Wan Ton Noodles*
Wan Ton Mee (Black)
*They are known for the noodles and man was it a large serving! (Ordered Medium size) The noodles were bouncy but of a much thicker variety in comparison to typical noodles used in Penang Wan Ton Noodles, but,are thinner than those used in chain shop, Pon Tian Noodles. Texturally it is very similar to noodles used for Kor Lor Mee in other establishment. With the medium order, even I had trouble finishing the serve. Okay noodles, but no wow to make it a travel to for eats. Char Siew and vegetables are fairly standard serving size and standing.*

Seletar Corner Noodle Stall

 Ordered On:
15Oct2016
Fried Cockle Kway Teow

Fed2 SGD4.50
*I wouldn't say it's got the full wok heh (char flavor from the fry of the wok.) Its there but it can be more. An interesting mix that sorta works. Its like Hokkien Mee but with cockles, and like fried mee. You can have it in sweet black sauce or without. Its got a fair share of ingredients and a lovely serving of garlic with it, which is fantastic. Pretty good and in all honesty the stall I'd return to try some of their Chee Kway and Chee Cheong Fun to see if do it really thinly and smoothly here.*

 Seletar Corner - Western Food
(Yet to be reviewed. Opens only from 3p.m. onwards)

 Ordered On:
20Oct2016
 Pork Chop SGD5.50
*The pork is really tender and nicely
Chicken Chop SGD6.50
*The breading is alright. The chicken is more breading than chicken actually. I'd personally prefer a thicker batter, but this is a different style.*
The staring points of this joint is definitely the nostalgia aspect of it. What really works for it are its sweet soft bun, buttered and lightly toasted on the flat grill. The fries are okay and the baked bean accompaniment really brings back the nostalgia of school canteen western food. Nothing special really. Your typical brown sauce that goes with everything.

Despite that said, the orders still seem popular with the place as phone orders were coming in with many having it to go.

North Star Ronji Seafood
Corner of Yeo Chu Kang Road and Buagkok Green Road
Opens only for Dinner
Recommended by others

Located at the intersection point of Yeo Chu Kang and Buangkok Green road, hides this relatively popular Zhi Cha Stall which opens only during the evenings. Entry to the place is from the back (depending on where you're coming from.)
Ordered On:
15Oct2016
Mongolian Pork Ribs 10
*Was recommended Marmite pork but that was non existent so ended up having Mongolian pork. Well this was okay. A little heavy handed on the black pepper and could use more curry leave though.*
Fried Beans with Dry Shrimps 8
*Could use a longer fry to get it a little drier but it is an all right dish as well.*
Venison with Ginger and Spring Onion 12
*Nothing to scream about. Of course it'd be preferred if it were served on a hot plate so you get that extra char and sizzle hot venison.*
Fried Man Tao 5

Chilli Crab 78
*Their chilli crab was a fail in my books. More tomato sauce than a chilli sauce! However, where it lacked in its saucing, it excelled in its freshness! A pretty large sized crab able to feed 4pax or even 5 comfortably of that quality is defiantly to be commended.*
Total 114SGD fed 4.
This time's dining experience was okay at best, and that would probably be attributed to the dish selections which were recommended from others. However the menu is huge and I'd probably try some of their other dishes. The crabs here are sizeable and defiantly fresh.
The place is not a complete write off though. Parents had been there before to have the Claypot Fish Bee Hoon soup , as well as the single order Hor Fun, which both had positive reviews. Also as we were leaving, it would seem their claypot dishes are the star orders at most tables and others were also having orders of La-las and butter cray fish.
*Clay-pot noodles at the ready for service*
Though not the best first dining experience, the large menu selection and seeing other orders does whet the appetite, enticing one to explore the rest of the eats. Fairly priced and without GST and/service charges, a worth while local Zhi-cha stall.
ABBATip:
Go before 5.30pm for dinner or only with booking.
