Izakaya located down the basement beside family mart.

A small homely Izakaya with value Omakase (chef’s choice) at ¥2500/pax when we visited. Their hotpots are reportedly good too! Yet to try.
Ordered On:
19Feb2020

5 Course Omakase excluding appetizer
Tofu curd shashimi (table charge appetizer)
Course 1 and 2 with seasonal vegetables

Overall it was a really pleasant dining experience especially with the chef watching the flow of the meal and serving up the next dish one after the other.
All dishes served were really good and special standouts to me were the vegetable tempura as well as the seasonal vegetable appetizers. One really gets to enjoy the sweetness and taste of the various vegetables to the highest degree. The generous serving size of the finale fish was flaky and well broiled. A great value Omakase experience.

Value and nice atmosphere. Unfortunately there’s no English menu or picture menu. Let him know you’re from Singapore and request for Omakase you’d like to try home style eats. Alternatively, one can try their hotpot which seems to be also one of his specialty.

The Kitchen Table
*Its design is supposed to be an upside down setting of the dining hall.*

Ordered On:

30Jan2020
*Salad was uninspiring and pretty standard fare. Didn't even bother exploring it.*
*The Seafood section. Uninspiring. In fact, Shashimi were not 'clean' cuts and were still connected to each piece. The oysters weren't that fresh and from the display it looked very underwhelming and uninspiring. I asked the staff if this was the usual spread, but they added that the weekends its with more seafood and a live Tandori section. Honestly with this, it didn't seem that promising.*
*This section replaces the usual Roast Beef carvery and was pretty refreshing to see. The roast pork beef and duck were well done and in particular the suckling pig was excellent. A rarity to have Suckling pig but its probably due to the Chinese New Year festivities*
The custom noodle bar with choice of Ramen, pork or Laksa Soup Broths. The soup stocks were pretty decent, but why go for basic hawker fare when paying top dollar at a place like this? They had a double boiled pork and lotus root soup but that would have gone unnoticed inside the steamer had I not queried what was in there. A little disappointing on that front.*
Total Fed 4+1 at 200SGD after 1for1 with UOB credit card
Food 3/5
*Most of the 'hot food section was luke warm at best. The seafood section was disappointing and the shashimi cuts didn't look that fresh. Oysters were only revisited once. The small dessert servings however were delightful, but mixed reviews with their seemingly instant packet peanut soup and average soft serve icecream.*
Value 2/5 at Full retail. 3/5 for 1-1offer.
Serivce 3.5/5
*It could be a mix of the Coronavirus and weekday that the place was mostly empty and sparsely filled. Even so, finding a staff on hand to assist was far. They were however quick to clear empty dishes and assist where ever possible. However their rounds to be tentative to patrons could have been better considering the light patronage on a weekday evening.*

The Pier Walk is much more pleasant.
As nightfall came Kitchen Table is generally very dimly lit and once there's nothing to see outside, the place lost its charm quite quickly.
However, since being there, the broad walk was much more enjoyable evening stroll after dinner.

Top Restaurant 2016 One Star... Really? Overall verdict, won't be returning. Heard so much from other sources and about this place and from watching Strictly Dumpling's review. Even with the 50% off, it wasn't worth the food and spread, and if that was the showing for at 88++SGD, not very high expectation for the 98++SGD for the weekend.

Perhaps one needs to go on the weekend for the 98++SGD(No discount) spread with added Tandori bar and more seafood for a way more positive experience as seen with Strictly dumpling.
